The London-based Jazz duo Vertaal, comprising of drummer Ajit Gill and multi-instrumentalist Theo Howarthare, are proud to present their new digital single “Alcazar/Husky”, lifted from their ground-breaking debut album Paradigm Shifting Extended Version, which was released exclusively on vinyl on the 26th March. be sure to check Alcazar out below - it’s certainly something special:
The release showcases various aspects of Vertaal’s capabilities, chemistry and potential as a Jazz duo and the 2-part single was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered from their own homes during lockdown, which is astonishing due to the high quality of the mix! The duo teamed up with bass player Severin Bruhin and saxophonist Loren Hignall on this joint to create an expansive, eclectic musical piece; starting with Alcazar, a graceful, elegant, laid back melody, and closing with Husky, a face-paced, experimental, and explosive composition. Overall, the single showcases their versatility and range as artists, and in a year filled with uncertainty it’s tracks like these that keep us Jazz heads alive and thriving… According to Vertaal “Alcazar/Husky was inspired and created through observation of peoples home rituals, relationships and human tendencies which make each and every one of us unique yet similar in our approach to life and its challenges”.
