South-East London based keys player, composer and producer James Beckwith just dropped his latest album ‘SE10’ on all major streaming platforms. Moving on from the more futuristic sound of his previous album ‘Long Distance’, ‘SE10’ takes a step back into the world of the experimental/conventional sounding Jazz that initially ignited James’ career as a musician. ‘SE10’ is an album centred around community and other personal areas of James’ life as an independent Jazz musician. The body of work is dedicated to the area where James currently resides - Greenwich, and Jack Richardson’s phenomenal artwork beautifully conveys the greater purpose of this project! ‘SE10’ starts with “Descent” an uplifting jazz composition carried by mesmerising keys and ambient synths. The second track off of the album, “Tekkers” is a fast-paced, explosive composition, perfect for late-night grooving. Self-titled track “SE10” is a personal highlight of the project, as James Beckwith delivers a delicate, harmonic piano-centric Jazz masterclass, rich in elegance and vibrance. Muon Part 1 & 2 are two lengthy, electrifying Jazz compositions, ideal for those who prefer longer tracks with more depth and substance. The album draws to a close with Dreamliner, a more chilled out tone as James and co. deliver an excellent outro to an incredible body of work.

“The project dives into aspects of mental health, with the album being broken up into a series of meditative, ambient, slowly building synthesised pieces that reflect the three different celestial bodies which surround us”. “The main focus of the album is for it to be personal. The musicians on the tracks are people I’ve known and worked with for years now. We recorded the album in my friend’s recording studio which I’ve been going to time and time again. I even slept in the studio by the piano for 4 days because I really wanted to get into the mindset of the record! Being in charge of this community for 4 days was a special thing that made the sound of this record really work”.
