Jackson Mathod - ‘COME ON NOW EP’ Out Now
London-based Trumpeter, Producer and Vocalist Jackson Mathod is back with his latest groundbreaking release ‘COME ON NOW EP’. The project is Jackson’s first release on label partnership Bridge the Gap x New Soil, featuring a whole host of super talent from the evergrowing UK jazz scene such as Gabriele Pribetti (Tenor Sax), Harry Pope (Drums), James Beckwith (Keyboards), Eoin Walsh (Bass), Mcknasty (Drums), Charlie Allen (Guitar), Luke Smith (Keyboards), Joey Grant (Bass), David Mrakpor (Bass, Keyboard & Drums), and Oli Howe (Keyboards)! The EP begins with lead single “Brazil Nut”; a Latin-inspired composition consisting of breathtaking trumpet melodies, infectious rhythmic drums, thrilling key progressions, and tropical percussion. The self-titled track “COME ON NOW”, is one to get you onto your feet and straight onto the dance floor, with infectious grooves and catchy horn lines. One of my personal favourites from the EP - “3 am”, starts abruptly with groovy piano keys and a hard-hitting bassline. At around 40 seconds in, Jackson comes in on the trumpet with style and exuberance showcasing his brilliant musicianship! The penultimate track “So Cold” offers listeners a slowed-down tone, with abstract Hip Hop vibes and a catchy melody. The EP comes to an end with “Matador”; an exceptional composition that rounds off the project perfectly. One thing that instantly becomes apparent when listening to ‘COME ON NOW EP’ is how each song was recorded in a different studio with a variety of hand-picked musicians. Mr Mathod still manages to keep the EP cohesive and harmonious throughout and this touch really portrays the musicality shown throughout the project.

Speaking exclusively on ‘COME ON NOW EP’ Jackson Mathod stated:
"COME ON NOW feels like a transitional body of work off the back of my debut and the pandemic. Although written by myself, it's the first time I've had other musicians come in and add their own stamp to my music, something that wasn't easy during a pandemic. My music is about diversity and collaboration, so I'm super proud of how this has turned out."
The EP has so far garnered support across the board with Over 25 national radio plays and 50+ specialist plays, including accolades from Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum and Jamz Supernova, as well as a B playlist on Jazz FM. Jackson's streaming success has continued too, with over 200k streams for the singles on Spotify alone.
