Jackson Mathod - “Brazil Nut” Out Now
London-based Jazz trumpeter, producer and vocalist Jackson Mathod links up with a star-studded Jazz line-up to deliver funky, Latin vibes on his latest release “Brazil Nut”. The incredible band on “Brazil Nut” is made up of James Beckwith (keys), Gabriele Pribetti (sax), Caetano (percussion), Eoin Walsh (Bass), Harry Pope (drums), and the single is a tribute to the figureheads of Latin Jazz that came before him! The composition encompasses infectious-organic drums, a deep, heavy-hitting bassline, otherworldly trumpeting skills, divine saxophone arrangements, thrilling key progressions and fruitful percussion. Think blaring sun, salsa dancing, yellow sands, palm trees, happy faces and tropical foods... Yes, this song perfectly encapsulates that vibe.
Speaking on the release Jackson Mathod stated:
“Brazil Nut is a tribute to all the figures of Latin Jazz that have inspired me over the years. I wanted to create that simplistic melodic line and add a trademark steady groove and let the band flow really.”
He then went on to express to us exclusively that:
“This was a tune that was written when I was rather angry at stuff that was going on in the world, particularly politics. I used to get really involved in politics on my socials but decided to try and harness that energy into writing. Like instead of ranting and raving the best way for me to blow off steam was just to write and record music!”
Following on from a successful 18 months of releases with support from the likes of 6 Music, BBC London, BBC 2, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and countless Spotify playlist addition, as well as amassing over 2.8m streams to date, Mr Mathod is ready to embark on his next chapter and deliver a new wave of music including his new EP which is due to drop in the coming months!
