Multi-talented London-based artist Isaiah Shoticaury just dropped his latest mixtape ‘DOWNHILLFROMHERE’ on all major streaming platforms. Displaying sounds and textures from a wide range of genres such as Hip Hop, RnB, Alternative, Rap and Electronic, ‘DOWNHILLFROMHERE’ is a unique-refreshing project in the current UK Alt-Rap landscape. Effortlessly rhyming, singing and flowing over smooth synths, playful grooves, and hard-hitting instrumentation, the sonic aspects of this project really emphasise and bring out a range of emotions and senses. One of the big takeaways from ‘DOWNHILLFROMHERE’ is the versatility shown from beginning to end. Isaiah Shoticaury effortlessly weaves from genre to genre showcasing his ability to sing and rap at a profound level. Another key takeaway from this body of work is Isaiah’s authenticity in relation to flow, hooks, beat selection and even cadences.
As soon as I stumbled across this body of work I was very happy to hear something so refreshing and new. Moreover, the production value and all of the attention to detail implemented on this album are incredibly commendable to hear from a rising artist. In the early days, it is all too easy to get lazy with these things as a lot of artists like to focus on getting projects and singles out there at speed to increase reach. But, with this project, you can really hear how much effort Isaiah has put into the small details and intricacies.

“After 3 years of pouring my suffering, pain and issues into the mic and production in the studio for this body of work I present to you my most proud project to date! This album is really special to me due to the sacrifices, pressure, and doubts that all led to this album right here…”.
Personal favourites from the project are “INTRO (eastside)”, “TIME TO SHINE”, “BLACKK”, “PAID BYTHEHOUR/BREATHE”, “TOOCONNECTED” and “SURVIVAL OFTHEFITTEST”, but all the tracks have replay value and I couldn’t recommend this project to UK Rap listeners any more than I already do!
