Luckily, we had the opportunity to catch up with Michael Abraham to discuss his musical roots, music-making process, favourite artists and future plans! Heres what came of the conversation:

Could you introduce yourself to those that don’t know?

Michael: Of course, My name is Michael Abraham and I’m a music artist from southeast London.

How would you describe the music you make?

Michael: Adventurous RnB music with pop structure and elements of hip hop/alternative music mixed into one. I’m trying to reach all forms of emotion and freedom with the music I make.

How did you get into making music?

Michael: I’ve always had a positive relationship with music. When I was a child I used to play the drums at church. So, it started there but me having thoughts of becoming a music artist started when Michael Jackson died. I was so touched and moved by how someone’s work could affect so many people. Music itself is an unspoken language.

What does your music-making process involve?

Michael: Aha a lot of procrastinating, daydreaming, and locking myself away for a few days. There’s no set way for me… Not yet anyway! Sometimes I have subjects in mind that I want to talk about, but most of the time I don’t to be honest with you. Everything comes from a place… A place I cannot put into words.

What’s your favourite genre of music?

Michael: I have phases! so right now I’m really into 95/96 RnB music but who knows where I’ll be in a few weeks from now. I’m really liking this new Lorde album; it’s dope. There are so many genres I pull from.

Who are your biggest musical inspirations?

Michael: Love this question! Michael Jackson, Frank Ocean, The Beatles, Kanye West, Timbaland and Pharrell.

What’s your biggest moment up until now?

Michael: Definitely the video I’m about to drop for a song called Higher Than the Sun! Other than that, The Sunday Morning EP was a big deal for me.

If you could collaborate with one artist from the UK, who would it be?

Michael: Paul McCartney

How has covid-19 affected your musical journey?

Michael: It’s made everything extremely tedious but there have been positives to it also. I enjoy taking my time with things. There’re songs I never would have made if it wasn’t for covid-19.

How do you motivate yourself on those days when you’re struggling to find motivation?

Michael: I go on a lot of walks which helps! I’ll watch my favourite films or listen to my favourite albums. Conversation’s with myself and other people really help!

Top 5 rappers of all time?

Michael: Biggie, Kendrick, Drake, Jay Z & Lil Wayne

Top 5 singers of all time?

Michael: Prime Mariah Carey, Prime Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Beyonce & Luther Vandross

What’s next for you as an artist?

Michael: Dropping a couple of music videos soon. Excited about that! Oh, and working on the next tape!
